This tour explains the Schaulager concept and provides insight into the unique conditions that are a distinguishing feature of the storage of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation’s works. It primarily focuses on the activities relating to the professional care, storage and study of the Emanuel Hoffmann Foundation’s collection, including the method of handling, restoration and conservation.
In this tour, we follow the Art Handling team and ask ourselves: How are works arriving at Schaulager handled? We explain the process from start to finish: from the moment the crate is delivered, the careful unpacking by gloved hands, the writing of a detailed condition report, and finally the hanging or installation of the piece in the storage space.
This guided tour is also suitable for younger, primary-school age children.
