(Duration: 60 minutes or according to agreement)
With the Olympia – 1,000 Years?! programme, your students enter the animated virtual stadium of David Claerbout’s double projection Olympia in real time and explore such aspects as time and perception, fact and fiction, fake and reality, authenticity and artificiality, utopia and ideology or the relationship between man and (computer) machine. We will also focus on the conceptual and productive background of Olympia: how did David Claerbout construct this visual landscape? How did he address and incorporate the things that define our world? What are we actually seeing when we look at a digital image?
We discuss these and other topics in the presence of the work and establish links to our own everyday lives, which are influenced by myriad digital interfaces, such as social media platforms, apps or computer programs.
Upon request we can also arrange creative workshops related to Olympia – 1000 Years?! with more in-depth activities.
