ROTH TIME. A DIETER ROTH RETROSPECTIVE

First comprehensive retrospective of the artist, writer and musician Dieter Roth (Hanover 1930 – Basel 1998)
"Roth Time. A Dieter Roth Retrospective" will be the first comprehensive overview of Dieter Roth's work since his death in 1998. It will cover five decades of work and the full range of his creative activities – paintings, drawings, graphic works, books, sculpture objects, installations, film and video productions. The exhibition will reflect the vast formal, conceptual and poetic scope of Roth's work as well as his use of diverse media and it will enable viewers to experience Dieter Roth's work as an innovative, inspired, chaotic and lucid whole, mirroring both an individual and an epoch.

The exhibition is being organized by Schaulager Basel in collaboration with The Museum of Modern Art, New York and Museum Ludwig, Köln. Björn Roth, the artist's son and long-time collaborator, will assist in the planning and realization of the exhibition. The Dieter Roth Foundation Hamburg, an exemplary collection of Roth's works assembled by the artist himself, will be an important lender.
